Data Governance/Quality Expert

Role Overview

As a Data Governance and Data Quality Expert within the Data & Analytics team, you play a key role in establishing and evolving thr data governance and data quality frameworks. You will guide its implementation, ensure compliance, and foster data literacy across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Framework Development: Design, implement, and continuously improve the data governance framework (covering target operating model, roles and responsibilities, data governance bodies, business glossary, data catalogue, data quality, and regulatory compliance) and data quality framework.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business and IT teams to align governance processes with strategic objectives and business needs.
• Change Management: Act as a change agent for framework roll-out, providing tailored support, training, and coaching to embed new data roles (e.g., towards Data Owner, Data Steward).
• Process Management: Develop and monitor governance processes, analyse non-compliance, and implement corrective actions.
• Operational Oversight: Ensure quality and timely execution of governance tasks (e.g., documenting business terms, classifying data, defining data quality rules).
• Monitoring & Reporting: Track governance indicators, data quality, and privacy compliance; report issues and propose improvements.
• Community Leadership: Lead and participate in internal and external data governance communities.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

• You have strong coordination and facilitating skills and can rely on previous experience as project manager and/or program manager (you have strong interpersonal skills and can act as an integrator between Business and IT).
• You have strong analytical skills; able to simplify complex regulatory and technical topics for non-technical audiences.
• You are proficient in Python and/or SQL.
• Experience with industry-leading data management and data governance tools is a strong plus.
• DMBOK, CIGO, AAIM or equivalent certification is a strong plus.

CONFORMITY CRITERIA

• You have a data-driven mindset, and have proven experience in a large company in data governance in all of the following domains: Data Roles & Governing bodies, Data Quality, Data Protection & Regulatory Compliance, Data Lineage, Business Glossary & Metadata Management
• You communicate fluently in Dutch, French and English (spoken and written). Dutch or French as a mother tongue or at least C level, the other language at least B2 level. For English at least level B2.
• You can physically come to the offices (Brussels) min. 2 days a week
• You have a master’s degree or equivalent by relevant experience in the above-mentioned domains
